We have tried to cover all the questions you may have, but if we haven’t please call or email us with your query.
What is a Dental Prosthetist?
A Dental Prosthetist is a specialist in the fabrication and fitting of dentures. They can provide you with the professional advice needed prior to choosing the denture that best suits your lifestyle and requirements.
How long should my dentures last?
With proper care and maintenance, your dentures should last between five and seven years. However, it is imporant to have regular check-ups so that we can check for wear and fit. Your gums will change over this time and your dentures may need some adjustments.
What if my dentures break?
If you lose a tooth, or your denture palate breaks, you can call us for an emergency appointment, even outside of normal business hours.
How much do dentures cost?
Price varies depending on whether you require a full or partial set of dentures as well as the number of teeth and the materials used. We will always give you a full quotation and explain the breakdown of costs to you following your free quotayion. We also offer a number of payment options through Afterpay.
How often should I visit a dental prosthetist?
Dentures, like natural teeth need regular care and maintenance. You should make an appointment to visit your dental prosthetist every 12-months or if you are experiencing any discomfort. Your dental prosthetist will perform an examination of your mouth and dentures, and provide you with an assessment of the treatment needed and the costs involved. Dentures must be assessed regularly to ensure proper function and satisfactory health of your mouth.
Do I need a referral from a dentist?
No, you don’t need a referral to see a prosthetist. However, we do work hand-in-hand with a dentist and dental hygenist, so we can provide access to a whole range of services including implants for dentures and immediate dentures.
What other services do dental prosthetists provide?
Dental prosthetists are the most skilled at providing custom sport mouthguards to protect natural teeth from chips and damage during contact sports. This is particularly important for growing children and teenagers.
Can I claim denture cost on my private health fund?
We have a HICAPS facility to claim directly depending on your paticular health fund cover. We can provide you with item numbers to check your level of cover prior to treatment.
